Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH): Safeguarding Community Health
The Challenge: A Fundamental Right Out of Reach
Access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene (WASH) is a fundamental human right. Yet, millions in rural and underserved areas are forced to rely on unprotected, unsafe sources such as shallow wells, streams, and rivers exposing whole communities to severe, preventable diseases.
Without functional WASH infrastructure, families face constant health risks, and children frequently miss school due to waterborne illnesses, undermining community development and well-being.
Our Solution: Strategic WASH Interventions

At KOFA Africa, we deliver targeted WASH intervention programs designed to stop the spread of preventable disease at the source focusing specifically on schoolchildren and densely populated rural communities.
- Provision of WASH Infrastructure: Installing vital sanitation facilities and safe water access points (such as boreholes and tap stands) to replace contaminated open water sources.
- Community Sensitization: Conducting engaging campaigns to raise awareness about hygiene, waste management, and safe water storage.
- Empowerment Through Education: Equipping students, teachers, and local leaders with actionable knowledge to build daily hygiene habits and ensure sustainable maintenance of facilities.

Our Goal: To protect vulnerable populations from preventable disease by establishing safe sanitation environments and embedding lifelong health and hygiene practices in every community we reach.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Alignment
- SDG 6: Clean Water & Sanitation (Targets 6.1 & 6.2) Providing equitable access to safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene facilities for all.
- SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being (Target 3.9) Substantially reducing illnesses and deaths caused by hazardous water, poor sanitation, and lack of hygiene.
- SDG 4: Quality Education (Target 4.a) Upgrading school environments to ensure safe, clean, and healthy learning spaces for children.
