Across sub-Saharan Africa, over 40 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been forced from their homes by conflict, violence, and civil instability. Stripped of their livelihoods and settled in fragile, makeshift camps, these vulnerable populations lack access to basic medical care and rely almost entirely on overburdened humanitarian relief.
At KOFA Africa, we are actively working to transform this reality by establishing sustainable, dignified, and accessible primary healthcare models directly within displaced communities.
Our Objective: Rebuilding Primary Healthcare in Crisis Zones
Conflict severely damages local health infrastructure, leaving women, children, and elderly IDPs without access to essential medical services. KOFA’s core mission is to evaluate, strengthen, and deliver localized primary healthcare services tailored specifically to conflict-affected populations in low- and middle-income African nations.
We are focusing on Nigeria home to one of the continent’s largest displaced populations as our primary operational hub to build actionable expertise, prove scalable care models, and refine interventions for continental expansion.
Demonstrated Impact: Serving Displaced Communities
Through targeted health outreach initiatives, KOFA translates high-level strategy into immediate, life-saving care on the ground.
- Direct Clinical Reach: We have successfully delivered comprehensive primary healthcare services to over 1,000 displaced individuals.
- Essential Services Delivered: On-site general consultations, diagnostic screening, maternal and child wellness assessments, and essential medication distribution.
- Removing Access Barriers: By deploying clinical teams directly into camp settings, we eliminate geographic and financial hurdles to routine and urgent medical care.
Our Roadmap: Scaling Across Nigeria & Beyond
Our work across displacement camps is the benchmark for a broader, systemic strategy:
- Nationwide Scale: We are actively expanding operational partnerships to progressively rollout primary healthcare interventions across all states in Nigeria.
- A Global Model for Crisis Response: By proving what works in high-need displacement settings across Nigeria, KOFA is developing a globally recognized standard for IDP health interventions using Africa as a model for innovation, resilience, and compassionate care.

Our Goal: Improving Healthcare for Displaced Communities
Our primary objective is to evaluate and strengthen primary healthcare for conflict-affected IDP populations in low- and middle-income African countries. We are focusing on Nigeria as a key location to build our expertise and advance our commitment to serving the entire continent.
To achieve this, KOFA has launched comprehensive intervention programs. For example, we have successfully provided primary healthcare services to over 1,000 IDPs at the Apo IDP camp in Abuja.
Our goal is to progressively expand our reach to every state in Nigeria. We are working toward our broader vision of establishing a globally recognized standard for IDP interventions, using Africa as our model for success.

Our healthcare initiatives for displaced populations directly support the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, specifically driving progress toward:
